Navid Mirtorabi opened The Twenty Two in 2022 on the corner of Grosvenor Square: 31 bedrooms and a restaurant that anyone can book, with a members' club behind them. The rooms are by Natalia Miyar, after 18th-century France rather than Mayfair: red velvet, four-posters, Pierre Frey on the ceilings.
Members have the Living Room by day and the Vault Bar downstairs at night. There is a sister house in New York, on the Global membership.
What sets it apart
- Three things in one house: hotel, restaurant and club, with a dining room and a late bar rather than a gym or a desk
- Hotel guests count as temporary members, so a night's stay is the way to see it first
- Abroad: a second house in New York, on the Global membership
- One member has to propose you, in writing
- No one under 21 in the club; the Living Room takes children until 5pm
