About
Crafted at Powdermills opened in November 2025, the work of Chris King, who co-founded Birch. A Grade II-listed Georgian house with 55 rooms and three cottages sits on a seven-acre lake in 78 acres of woods and pasture: an outdoor pool, a sauna and hot tub by the lake, a gym and studio, two padel courts, two kilometres of trails, an all-day restaurant, a pub and an outdoor grill.
Members have The Green Room cocktail bar, the Parlour and a private dining room, a calendar of socials, dinners and festivals, and reciprocal access to Aethos in Shoreditch. Membership is open to all: no velvet ropes, as the club puts it.
What sets it apart
- Open to all: an application, no proposer, no committee
- Seventy minutes by train from London Bridge, then the club's electric shuttle from Battle
- The lake is the spa: cold-water swims, a sauna and hot tub on the shore, an outdoor pool
- Reciprocal access to Aethos in Shoreditch, so a town club comes with it
- Sussex rather than the Cotswolds: south-east of home, the only one this side of London
